The April Art build brought a rag tag crew of artists to the Meädow. We focused on completion. We had to complete several projects that had been in the works for quite a while and get them ready for Amphibian 16:1.
Blast off — Friday Night:
Friday was pure planning. The Töad King, Sun, Julie, Jay, and George were in attendance. We divvied up last minute duties of procuring party supplies for Amphibian 16:1. Sure, it sounds boring, but it can’t all be fun and games, can it? After all the administrative duties were attended to, we ate, drank, and of course, George almost died again. George always almost dies.
Saturday:
Saturday is when the real fun began. We were joined by James Cooper, Brad, Kat McCarthy and Melissa Campbell. Brad is a Töad Meädow newbie, but he immediately ingratiated himself into our hearts in two ways: technology and food. Brad is now our resident superhero. He’s designing electronically-controlled gloves that shoot flames from the wrists and tested his prototype design out back by the shop. He also took on the role of head chef and cooked not one, but two mouthwatering meals. We love Brad.
Julie and Jay continued working on Julie’s Fecund Jesus effigy. With the addition of his plush hands and feet, he is almost entirely complete.
There were a few mishaps when Jesus literally went to the dogs. Resident dog Faüst and visiting dogs Lobo and Bridgy took turns trampling him and fucking up the paper mâché skin that Julie and Jay were applying. They are lovable, so we forgive them.
Sunday and Random Weekend Occurrences:
Julie sacrificed some peeps to Fecund Jesus.
Sun worked on his Buddah-inspired fire pit in the garage. Jay’s heart grew two sizes at the sight of the new boards she plans to use on an upcoming project but then Jesus gave her the finger because he had to be placed on one of the boards (and subsequently drip paper mache and paint) in order to protect him from the wild roaming dogs. Kat went psychedelic on a drawing that incorporated Töad Meädow people, animals, and events and signature art works. Melissa Campbell went froggy style on an amphibian-themed beer cooler. Good times.
What’s Next?
Have I mentioned Amphibian 16:1? It’s April 29-May 1.
